2 Week Check-up (photos+video)
I met with Howie’s surgeon today and it looks like he is right on track to recovery. He is using his leg a bit and doesn’t seem to be in a lot of pain. We are taking him off the pain medication for now. Looks like he is allowed to go on longer walks and should run and play now to build up the scar tissue. I will be taking Howie to physical therapy for four sessions. He recommended doing hydrotherapy where they have an underwater treadmill where the dog is forced to use his affected leg to walk with the resistance. I will also be putting him in our large tub twice a week to get him to swim in it and strengthen his leg.
Howie is still in high spirits and hasn’t whined much through the whole process. I can’t wait to get him back to the dog park to play with other dogs! (Maybe at the end of summer). Learn more about hydrotherapy by clicking here. Check out a video of how it works below:
